As we’ve hit the last ten days of the month of Ramadan, Eid is upon us, and I know a lot of us are thinking of what to wear.
In our mind we are saying: should I buy, new clothes or just recycle what I already have. Even if I were to buy new clothes or recycle would it be a dress, an abaya,a skirt or pants? The question of “what to wear for Eid?” just keeps ringing our your heads.
Last Eid I wore a pair of pants here and I also talked about whipping up a last minute outfit for Eid here
Well if you’re like me and you have a lot of clothes but you never know what to wear or you don’t just have a clue on what to wear then stay tuned.
What am wearing:
Body top: Balogun market; similar here
Ankara skirt: Custom made; similar here and here
Open Abaya: East Essence; similar here
I am not really an Ankara person, though I love the prints, it can be quite heavy so I tend to run away from it but I know a lot of people love to wear it for Eid even though they may not necessarily wear it regularly and for them during Eid, Ankara is a must. That is what inspired the theme for this look: fusion. A perfect blend of African and western culture.
Putting together this look was pretty simple I had this orange ankara skirt and a black body top, but I needed coverage so I added an open abaya, it’s green because there’s green on my skirt (I like matchy matchy).
Current combination: Plain body top + Ankara skirt + plain Open Abaya
Alternative combination 1: Plain body top + Ankara wide leg pants + Plain open Abaya
Alternative combination 2: Plain Body top + Plainmaxi skirt/wide leg pants + ankara open Abaya
Alternative combination 3: Ankara Top + Plain maxi skirt/wideleg pants + Plain Open Abaya
Alternative combination 4: Ankara dress/wide leg jumpsuit + Plain open Abaya
Alternative combination 5: Plain dress/ wide leg jumpsuit + Ankara open abaya
I hope this combinations help you in whipping up a nice outfit for Eid while maintaining the theme; fusion.
What do you think about the theme, would you wear this for Eid ? Please let me know in the comments section below
I wish all the best in the last ten days of Ramadan and May Allah accept our Ibadah.
